PANJIM: A month long summer football camp organized by YUVA in association with Goa Football Development Council concluded at Mala ground, Panjim.
Around 60 trainees took part in the camp. At the valedictory function, YUVA felicitated Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and presented a Demand Draft of Rs 20, 000 towards the Chief Minster Relief Fund which was collected towards Canacona tragedy.
YUVA also presented a file of signage campaign conducted by them towards Mala Lake development.
In his address, Parrikar wished YUVA for their work for society and expressed his wholehearted support and guidance towards developmental work to be carried out in Panjim.
He also mentioned that youth should work selflessly with passion and promised to develop current Mala ground very soon with small size football pitch, volleyball court and community hall. The project initiated by YUVA, a year back.
Chairman of GFDC and President of YUVA Dr Rufino Monteiro urged the trainees to train hard with regularity and dedication to attain success at the highest level, taking advantage of all the facilities provided by the government through the GFDC.
He also praised the efforts of the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in providing the much needed fillip for developing football in Goa.
Member Secretary of GFDC Elvis Gomes appreciated the efforts of team YUVA and proposed to have permanent GFDC grass root football centre in Mala.
Menino D’Cruz, social worker from Mala; Vilas Satarkar, headmaster of Dr. K.B. Hedgewar School; Ashok Patil and Mihir Agshikar, social workers were present.
Earlier, Raghuvir Mahale, vice-president, YUVA welcomed the guests and briefed about the achievement and activities of YUVA .
Hemant Prabhu Chodnekar proposed the vote of thanks and Gayatri Bhingi compered.
