MAPUSA: Pilerne Sports Club stormed into the final of the 12th All-Goa Late Pio Jose Goveia Soccer Cup organised by YSC Colvale as they registered a 6-5 win via tie-breaker over Cuncolim Union Sports Club, at Colvale church ground, on Thursday.
Cuncolim Union who held the upper-hand took the lead in the 16th minute from a neat placement by Treyson D’Costa.
Down by a goal in the 33rd minute, Pilerne SC managed to level terms through their skipper Russel Fernandes, who scored from outside the penalty box, 1-1. On resumption of play, the teams played on equal footing where the winner s was decided via the penalty shootout. Pilerne lads kept their cool to win the match by 5-4 margin. Pilerne will take on Nerul Sports Club in the final slated for December 29.
