MARGAO: Ponda Veterans prevailed over Nuvem Veterans 5-4 via the tie-breaker to enter the final of Chinchinim Villagers Cup Veterans football tournament organized by Union of Chinchinim Villagers at church ground, Chinchinim on Wednesday.
Both the teams were tied 1-1 at half time.
The teams started the game on an attacking fashion and Alfred Fernandes broke the deadlock for Nuvem Veterans. However, their joy was shortlived when Bruno equalized for Ponda Veterans.
The teams continued in salve vein and adopted an aggressive approach but the match winner eluded them.
In the penalty shoot out, Marcus Carvalho, Bruno, Elvis and Mohammed Rafiq converted for the winners while Vincent Colaco, Santan Colaco and Remy Colaco scored for the Nuvem Veterans.
