Progress HS, Sanquelim, Bicholim defeated Unity HS, Valpoi 6-1 in the finals of U-17 boys North District football tournament, organised by DSYA at Peddem sports complex here on Wednesday.
In the girls finals, Our Lady of Rosary HS, Dona Paula overcame Holy Cross, Bastora 4-0.
Progress HS, Sanquelim, Bicholim qualified for the finals after they defeated Don Bosco HS, Panjim 1-0 in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
In the other semi-finals, Unity HS, Valpoi defeated St Ann’s HS, Tivim 3-2 via the tie-breaker, after the match ended goalless.
In the girls semi-finals, Our Lady of Rosary HS, Dona Paula thrashed St John of the Cross, Bicholim 11-0.
Sonali Bhomkar netted an impressive six goals, Anuska Viegas scored three and Leena Gaunso and Sibel Fernandes also scored.
Holy Cross HS, Bastora got a walkover in the other girls semi-finals.
In a group level primary-middle school U-13 football match organised by DSYA, Saraswat HS, Mapusa defeated Sacred Heart, Parra 5-1.
Roman Noronha scored a brace, Saish Naik, Prasanjeet Parsekar and Adi Ahmad also scored. Parra netted a consolation goal via the penalty spot.
