MAPUSA: PVC Parra made it into the final of the Vanxim-Divar Soccer Cup through a solitary goal win over Friends XI Vaddem Sport Club organized by Assonora United Football Club, at Sirsaim ground, on Saturday.
The Vaddem outfit put up a fine performance but it was PVC Parra that scored the all-important goal when Satish Mirajkar collected a loose ball and ran into the Friends XI Vaddem danger zone before unleashing a powerful right footer which had no answer from the rival keeper.
Friends XI Vaddem tried hard to come back into the match, but the much needed goal eluded them till the final whistle.
On Friday, CDJ Ribandar registered a fluent 3-1 win over St Anthony’s SC, Marna to enter the semi-finals.
Devendra put CDJ Ribandar into the lead in the opening stages of the match and within a span of few minutes netted in his brace to take his side up by a 2-0 lead.
Shaikh made the issue safe for CDJ Ribandar slotting home the ball from close range, 3-0.
After several failed opportunities, Newton Azavedo managed to reduce the margin for St Anthony’s SC through a powerful right-footer from inside the danger zone, 1-3.
