CURTORIM: Parish Youth Nuvem pipped Cuncolim Union 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of Wilred Leisure Cup played at DSYA Ground, Curtorim, on Saturday.
PY Nuvem’s Denikson Dias was the star of the match with his dribbling, passing accuracy and shooting power in front of around 600 spectators.
Both teams took a cautious approach, testing each other’s strength, thus most of the play confined to midfield.
After the lemon break, PY Nuvem made the first attempt in the 23rd minute in the rival goal through Denikson. But his power-packed shot hit the crossbar and went out of play.
Soon after Dialon Dias of Cuncolim Union shot hit the crossbar and rebounded into play. However, both teams couldn’t score till the final whistle resulting into a tie-breaker.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Parish Youth Nuvem proved to be the better shooters scoring 6-5 goals.
