PANJIM: Quepem Veterans scored a solitary goal victory over Ilhas Veterans in the final to emerge champions in the 1st Carmelitians Veterans Football Cup 2025 played under the floodlights at the Bhausaheb Bandokar ground, Bandora, Ponda, recently.
Quepem Veterans were on fire from the word go. In the 9th minute, Quepem Veterans’ Jason attempt was well saved by Ilhas goalkeeper. Both the teams were held to a goalless draw in the first half. Post resumption, Quepem Veterans kept on pushing forward to score. Finally, they took the lead through Jason who scored from a cross of Agnelo, which turned out to be the winning goal.
Ilhas Veterans tried hard to come on level terms but Quepem Veterans defence foiled their moves.
Chief guest Club President Dr Ketan Bhatikar in the presence of club committee members and other dignitaries gave away the prizes.
