CHANDOR: Raia Sporting Club downed Goa Velha Sports Club 4-1 to enter the quarter-finals of the Chandor Seamen inter village football tournament, organised by Chandor Sports Club, at Chandor ground, on Friday.
Raia coach Cosme Oliveira gave an extra task to Joysthan Cardozo to take control of midfield and forward line.
In the second minute, Raia’s Joysthan Cardozo should have netted but the latter’s shot was saved by Goa Velha keeper.
Later in the sixth minute planned move by Goa Velha’s Kunal Kundaikar and Chatur Naik almost paid off but Chatur’s shot was saved by Raia keeper Leo Colaco.
Raia opened the score-line in the first half through Eldon Colaco in the 37th minute.
In the second half, Raia dominated the proceedings and pumped in three more goals through Jouston Barbosa who doubled the lead in the 41st minute followed by Allen Fernandes who made it 3-0 in the 49th minute.
Three minutes later, Danny Fernandes made it 4-0 for Raia.
Goa Velha pulled a consolation goal through Franky Cabral in the 58th minute.
Raia Sporting Club will now meet SC Davorlim in the quarter-finals on September 1.
