VASCO DA GAMA: Regina Mundi School, Chicalim beat St Andrews Institute, Vasco 2-0 to win the U-14 boys Mormugao taluka Subroto Mukherjee football tournament, played at Tilak Maidan, Vasco da Gama, on Saturday.
The teams were locked goalless at half time.
St Andrews took control of the proceedings in the opening minutes with some good positional play but a strong Regina Mundi defence led by Manas, Cris and Grenville stood like a rock.
In the second half, Regina Mundi’s Judah Sanches scored from the top of the box.
They consolidated their lead as a Shaniel Lucas through pass was converted by Judah Sanches to give Regina Mundi victory.
Meanwhile in the girls U-17 Subroto Mukherjee football final, Regina Mundi School defeated St Joseph Vaz High School, Sancoale 2-0 to emerge victorious in the Mormugao Zone.
Akshata Dodamani and Gracina Colaco scored for Regina Mundi.
In the other matches, Naval Children School, Chicalim blanked St Thomas High School, Cansaulim 3-0 to lift the U-17 boys championship.
Dwayne Neto and Sridev (2) scored for NCS.
