DULER: Chapora Youth Sports Club blanked Augustias Sports Club 3-0 to cruise into the quarter-finals of the North Goa McDowell’s No Yaari Cup inter-village football tournament, organised by Saligao United at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
Chapora came into their own half and wrested complete dominance scoring three times during this period to run out worthy winners.
Chapora dominated and enjoyed the better share of exchanges and ball possession and found the breakthrough in the 17thminute when Rohit picked up the ball from Nitesh Salgaocar and unleashed a blistering shot to make it 1-0. Spurred by the lead, Chapora upped the ante and in the 21st minute double the lead through Samson.
Having conceded two goals, Augustias Sports Club began attacking with intensity through their forwards and came close in reducing the margin in the 27th minute when Abel Dias’ snap shot was well blocked by rival goalkeeper.
Rohit scored the third for the winners.
