CURCHOREM: Top seed Ritviz Parab (2141) of Salcete defeated Wilson Cruz (1914) in the fifth round to lead along with Pratik Mule, Ameya Audi, Rahul Verma and Kapil Pavse (all with 5 wins in 5 rounds), in the QTCA All India Open FIDE Rating Tournament held at the DYSA Sports Complex, Borimol, ,Quepem.
The tournament is an All India FIDE rated chess tournament, wherein 225 players from all over India participated.
Rahul Verma (1898) defeated Ketan Boricha(2110), Kapil Pawse (1791) defeated Shirish Kumar(2042), Patik Mule(2009) defeated Timo Akkanen (1746), Ameya Audi (1937) defeated Jadhav Sushant (1538), followed by Anirudh Bhat and Anant Prabhudesai with 4.5 points.
Tomorrow is the last day and the prize distribution function will be held at 5.30 pm.
The tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Nilesh Cabral, MLA, Curchorem constituency and chairman of Goa Tourism Development Corporation, in the presence of Chandrakant Kavlekar, MLA, Quepem constituency and chairman of Navyug Vikas Manch and Vinay Tendulkar, president of Goa Chess Association , Kishor Bandekar joint secretary AICF, Subhash Chandra Naik, president QTCA, Sanjay Kavlekar, secretary, QTCA and other dignitaries. Walter Menezes compered the function.
