Rosary College Navelim made a winning start to their campaign pocketing comparatively facile victories in both, the boys as well as girls categories.
First, the Rosary College boys put it across their more reputed opponents SS Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Panjim, winning the rubber 24-19, with Elvis Fernandes accounting for 10 points. Dempo’s Wilson Fernandes scored six points and was virtually their lone ranger.
Later, the Rosary girls again made short work of their better reputed opponents St Xavier College, Mapusa, defeating them 32-19. Stancy (11 pts) and Maggie (10 pts) did the bulk of Rosary’s scoring. For Xavier’s their captain Rochelle Fernandes scored four points.
In another match, BITS-Pilani, Zuarinagar, romped to victory over Don Bosco College, Panjim by a stunning 27-points margin. The final score read 58 -31 as BITS-Pilani’s demonstrated better skill and technique to outplay their opponents.
In the final match of the day, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, defeated Goa College of Architecture, Altinho, 66-20. Sohail Naroo played brilliantly converting five three-pointers to tally 26 points in the match and was ably supported by Aaron who scored 11 points for Don Bosco Engineering College. For the Goa College of Architecture, Greig Fernandes scored 15 points
