MARGAO: Rosary HS, Navelim edged past Infant Jesus, Colva 2-1 in a hard fought contest in the opening match of day 4 of the 3rd Chowgule Sports Centre U-10 Futsal League organised by YFA and co powered by Capitao Security and The King’s School, at Chowgule Futsal Court, on Saturday.
Celi Rebello scored a brace for the winners. Rishikesh Madiwal scored one for Infant Jesus. Rahul Sherpali of Infant Jesus HS was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna pipped Bloomz International School by 7-6 in a very entertaining match. Elroy D’silva’s brace in fourth and fifth minute gave Bloomz the lead, but Enosh Simoes scored in the sixth and seventh minutes to restore parity.
Vollan Coutinho gave Regina the lead in the eighth minute only for Elroy to equalize two minutes later. Two quick goals from Neil Fernandes gave Regina some breathing room but Elroy was on the scoresheet again just before the break.
Regina went into the break 5-4 up. Danstan Fernandes restored Regina’s two goal lead three minutes after the restart. Cyrus Dias got into the act as he pulled one back for Bloomz, before Elroy scored his fifth goal and the team’s sixth goal to level things at 6-6 with five minutes left. Bloomz hearts were broken at the death as Neil Fernandes scored the winner with two minutes left on the clock. Elroy D’silva was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
A Mark D’Costa hat-trick propelled The Kings School to a resounding 9-0 victory over Posh English HS. Trond Dias scored a brace while Jaisman Gomes, Elrad Braganza and Shaurya Verenkar scored a goal each for the winners. Mark D’Costa was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
Futebol Club YFA scored a 5-0 victory over Child Care School. Child Care made it very difficult for YFA to score and it was only after ten minutes of the first half that YFA opened the scoring thanks to man-of-the-match Zane Reveredo’s solo effort. Soham Mane, Milin Kushwah, Caleb Fernandes and Lillian Rodrigues all scored a goal each for YFA in the second half.
Loyola HS got the better of Vidya Vikas Academy 6-3 in a pulsating match. Warren Rodrigues gave VVA the early lead but were pegged back immediately by a goal from the shoes of Reuben Barbosa. Warren scored again to give VVA the lead but two powerful strikes from the distance first from Reuben and then by skipper Irwin Faleiro put Loyola in the lead.
An own goal late into the first half gave Loyola a two-goal cushion going into the break. Ryan Fernandes and Reuben scored to inflate the score to 6-2.
Warren then scored a free-kick from distance to reduce the deficit. Andreas Furtado was named man-of-the-match for his brilliant display in defence.
Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim scored a 3-0 victory over Saviour of the World HS, Loutolim. Emmanuel Gama and man-of-the-match Musab Shaikh scored for the winners.
