NAVELIM: Rossman Cruz, Nagoa-Verna edged past Cuncolim Union 3-2 to move into the quarter-finals of the Jose Bento Memorial trophy organised by Navelim Villagers Union, at Rosary ground, on Friday.
The best chance fell to Rossman’s Myron Fernandes but the latter’s move was tackled byCuncolim defender Krishna Shirodkar in the fourth minute.
Three minutes later, Cuncolim Union striker Conny Fernandes after seeing the Rossman keeper out of position shot the ball but defender Vizal Rego cleared the ball from the goal-line through his lefter footer.
It was Christo D’Mello who netted the first goal for Rossman with his left foot curler which sailed after crossing two Cuncolim defenders into Cuncolim net in the 17th minute.
It was Rosario Carvalho who netted a brace for Cuncolim in the 30th and 38th minutes.
Rossman netted two quick goals through Vellinton Gama and Frazier D’Costa in the 40th and 41st minutes to make it 3-2 for Rossman.
