MAPUSA: Saipem Sports Club managed to register a 1-0 win over Orda Boys to enter the semi-finals of the Silver Sands Candolim inter-ward football tournament, organised by United Boys of Camotim, played at Candolim ground, on Monday.
In the very 3rd minute of play a smart header by Nikhil Haldankar off a corner by Dhondu Fernandes hit the horizontal bar.
Orda keeper Sunil Tamoskar came to his teams rescue twice as kept away a curling free-kick from Santan Carvalho and later fisted a blistering shot for a corner from Paul Cardoz.
As the match progressed once again Orda keeper Sunil came with back to back saves to deny Paul Cardoz and Karan Morajkar from scoring.
However finally in the 48th minute Saipem took the lead as Xavier Cardoz scored from the penalty spot, after Orda defender had brought down Paul Cardoz inside the penalty box, 1-0.
