MARGAO: Salgaocar FC’s U-20s got their Taca Goa campaign off to a flying start with a 12-0 demolition of Curtorim Gymkhana played on the artificial turf in Fatorda, on Friday.
Naro Hari Shrestha secured a fine hat-trick with two goals each by Stefen Fernandes and substitutes Yamnur Pinjar and Alston Mendes.
It was one-way traffic from the outset as the Greens went ahead as early as the fourth minute through Myron Borges. A fine interchange of passes between Klins Mendes, Naro Hari and Myron saw the last name finish calmly from a tight angle. It was two just before the 10 minute mark and Naro Hari found his name on the score sheet after smashing home from inside the box. Stefen Fernandes who was lively through and made some fabulous runs through the course of the game made it three in the 14th minute after tucking away a fine through ball by Naro.
A minute later, Naro found the back of the net for the second time in the evening with a stunning finish from the top of the box after a delightful long ball from Raja. By the 21st minute Stefen had scored a brace himself heading home after the ball came back off the crossbar of a Naro header. Jason Barbosa got in on the act to tuck home in the 35th minute whilst Klins calmly finished a move he started around the centre line in the 41st minute.
Naro managed to claim his hat-trick in injury time at the end of the first half with another clinical finish from within the box.
The second half continued where the first half ended and despite midfielder Klins Mendes receiving his marching orders around the hour mark for what could be considered a harsh sending off, the Greens found the back of the net four more times, twice each through substitutes Yamnur Pinjar and Alston Mendes to complete the rout.
