The Mariners who are undefeated in the league thus far look confident after an AFC Cup win against Maziya S&R Club this week. The Kolkata outfit will be looking to maintain this streak and take home the three points in tomorrow’s fixture.
On the other end, Salgaocar FC, who are currently at the eight spot with five points, will look for a win. Having suffered a narrow loss to East Bengal in their previous outing the Greens have come a long way from earlier when they visited Mohun Bagan.
Sankarlal Chakraborty, the assistant coach, seem wary as the ground which they will be playing on hasn’t brought them too much success. He said, “The players are aware of the conditions and will play accordingly. But one thing that shall worry the Kolkata outfit is the league’s current top scorer Darryl Duffy who has eight goals from as many games to his credit.”
“Duffy is currently the high scorer in the league, his attacking force and team is very good, even their defence with players like Augustin, Karanjit in goal and Martin Scott, altogether they are a very strong side,” he added.
The Green’s gaffer Santosh Kashyap is confident in his team and how they are shaping up and looks to play a more offensive game.
“My style is attacking football and every game is do-or-die for us unless we get out of the relegation. With every practice, we are improving as an individual and as a team.”
The Goan side has been plagued by injuries from the very start of the season, having just Duffy as the only foreign player fit for playing in the initial stages and then recently with Jackichand Singh and Seityasen Singh being in and out for the past games.
