Salgaocar FC pip FC Bardez in five-goal thriller

Green Brigade now have six points from two matches while FC Bardez are yet to earn a point after playing three matches

MAPUSA: Salgaocar Football Club registered their straight second win as they squeezed past Football Club de Bardez 3-2 in the GFA’s U20 Taca Goa League One match, played at Duler stadium, on Monday.
After Monday’s win, the Greens Brigade have six points from two matches while FC Bardez are yet to earn a point after playing three matches.
Salgaocar were the better side in the first session and completely dominated over the opponents as they were leading by two goals at the halftime.
After some probing attacks, Salgaocar finally opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Kaushik Negi scored from the spot after Bardez keeper Swizel Pereira made a hasty tackle on Salgaocar striker Devendra Murgaonka rand referee Pandurang Korgaonkar quickly pointed towards the penalty spot. 
Ten minutes later, Salgaocar doubled their lead as Andrus John’s sizzling shot finished in the net making it 2-0 for the Green Brigade.
Bardez also had two chances in the half, Diolon Gama failed to control his shot from the close while few minutes later Danstan Fernandes wasted an easy opportunity to reduce the margin for Pink Brigade.
However, Bardez regrouped at the lemon break as they came out stronger and scored two goals in quick succession, where Reeve D’Costa banged the ball home from inside the box after getting a perfect pass from Danstan in the 56th minute.
The home supporters hardly settled down after celebrating their first goal when Reeve once again brought them on their feet as he completed his brace with a smart header off Joywin Carneiro’s corner making it all square for Bardez. 
However, they could not hold the opponents for long as Saeesh Halankar once again gave the Green Brigade the lead in the 61st minute when he found the net from the close, off Kaushik’s well-taken corner.
A few minutes later, Bardez’s Joywin was denied by the woodwork, while in the 79th minute, Bardez’s Diolon Gama was brought down by Salgaocar’s Jovan Dias in the box but shockingly referee Pandurang overlooked the incident, frustrating every Bardez player, officials and also their fans.
In the added time, Salgaocar had the chance to further increase their lead when Andrus was in the commanding position with just keeper to beat but the opponent keeper Swizel denied him in a one-on-one situation.
