MAPUSA: After 14 days without action Salgaocar FC are all geared up to take on Mohammedan Sporting Club in their second match of Airtel I-League at Duler Stadium, here, Sunday, 3.30 p.m.
Derrick Pereira’s men got off to a dream start defeating defending champions Churchill Bros 1-0 on the opening day and The Green Brigade will look to carry on the same form.
India international Francis Fernandes will play a key role along with Rocus Lamare in the midfield while central defender Nigerian Chika Wali will hold the fort alongside Augustine Fernandes.
Scottish Darry Duffy, who scored the match-winner against Churchill Bros is likely to partner French Claude Gnakpa upfront.
Durand Cup Champions Mohammedan Sporting were grounded in their opening match at home and Coach Abdul Aziz Mohsood will be under pressure to start delivering victories.
The black and white boasts of the quality of Tolgay Ozbey and Josimar Martins upfront. And if Nigerian midfielder Penn Orji is declared fit and defender Luciano Sobrosa can play a role, the visitors will have enough ammunition in store.
Nevertheless, it’s Mohammedan’s first away match and for a team which have traditionally been strong at home, will have to come up with something special against Salgaocar.
