Sao Miguel meet Arpora in title clash

Arpora Sporting Club registered a narrow 3-2 win via tie-breaker over hosts United Club Nerul to enter the final of 3rd Colormax-Imperial Rolling trophy, sponsored by Jaysingh L. Rane, at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro stadium, Candolim, on Thursday.
In the 7th minute, Pramod Mardolkar rasping shot was superbly saved on the goal line by Nerul’s Avinash Pereira while in the 16th minute, Premnath Gadekar’s goal bound shot hit the upright.
With the teams locked in a goalless draw, the tie-breaker was implemented where Amit Fernandes, Rajesh Pombuphekar and Garry Pereira scored for Arpora while only Avinash Pereira and Newton Pereira shot on target for Nerul.
On Wednesday, Sao Miguel, Taleigao had to wait for the tie-breaker before they got the better of Calangute Association 6-5 to enter the final.
A fine move by Tomson Fernandes in the 25th minute and in turn well-measured pass to Caetano Pinho. The latter drilled a 30-yard straight shot into Calangute nylons.
In the very next minute, a costly defence error by Anthony Pereira and Ramesh Palkar, saw opportunist Vijay Parsekar netting the precious equaliser.
With the match locked in a 1-1 draw, the penalty shootout was applied.
Anthony Pereira, Caetano Pinho, Valencio Estrocio, Ramesh Palkar and Cedric Peixoto all shot on target for Taleigao, while Emmanuel D’Costa, Francis Fernandes, Menino Fernandes, and Blake Haldankar scored for Calangute.
Now, Arpora Sporting will clash with Sao Miguel, Taleigao in the final.
