PANJIM: Socio Cultural Club Loutolim moved into the finals of All-Goa Curtorim Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament by defeating Pax of Nagao, Verna 5-4 via the tie-breaker at St Alex church ground, Curtorim.
Loutolim defender Royce Cardozo pulled off a superlative save in 44th minute of the play as the goalkeeper was beaten hands down by a Remedios Vaz attempt.
In the tie-breaker Mandur Naik, Volaney Vaz, Jeslon fernandes, Royce Cardozo and Charles Dias scored for the winners while Shawn Pereira, Menino Pereira, Agnelo Abranches, and Stephen Pereira scored for Pax of Nagoa.
Vijal Rego’s spot kick was saved by Loutolim goalkeeper Minguel Ataide.
Earlier, Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda defeated Maina Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to enter the finals. Maina led 2-0 at half time.
Maina went ahead in the 14th minute when Sertorio Monteiro off a pass from Welson Fernandes. Maina increased their lead in the 24th minute through Jameson Noronha whose power-packed shot hit the cross-bar before entering the goal.
In the second half, Don Bosco mounted pressure on Maina and succeeded in reducing the deficit in the 46th minute through Francis Andrade. He scored again in the 56th minute to restore parity.
In the tie-breaker Rose Azavedo, Salvito Quadros and Fredrick Vaz scored for Don Bosco while Peter Pereira and Micheal Faleiro scored for Maina.
SCC Loutolim will now meet Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in the finals on August 25.
