PANJIM: Salgaocar FC cruised past Bhaichung Bhutia Football School 8-2 in their AIFF U-18 I-League encounter of the Group A match, at Barasat Stadium, Kolkata, on Tuesday.
Salgaocar FC have now qualified for the semi-finals.
It was Salgaocar FC’s talismanic striker Liston Colaco who scored seven goals out of the total eight for the Goan side.
Andrus John opened the scoring in the second minute from a cross from Liston, the tall lanky striker met the ball with power to beat rival keeper.
In the 22nd minute Shayne ran down the flank and curled the ball into the box for Liston who headed home making it 2-0.
Liston in the 36th minute was again in the spring of action when he dribbled, twisted and turned away from the defenders and then slotted the ball past the oncoming keeper making it 3-0.
Salgaocar FC led 3-0 at the break.
Salgaocar FC carried on from where they had left. In the 48th minute Liston was set up by Devendra Murgaocar, and the former completed his hat-trick in style.
Liston scored two more in the 61st and 72nd minute making it 5-0. In the 73rd minute BBFS pulled one back, but as the ball was placed on the centre mark for the restart of play, Liston shot the ball directly into the BBFS goal which surprised everyone to make it 7-1. Liston completed his double hat-trick.
In the 87th minute, Liston scored again with an individual effort making it his 7th and Salgaocar’s 8th.
Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools scored in the 92nd minute.
