MAPUSA: Shree Bhagwati High School Pernem defeated Kamleshwar High School Pettachawada Korgao by 55 runs in the U-16 boys cricket tournament, organised by Goa Cricket Association (GCA), Pernem Zone played at Varkhand ground, Pernem here on Wednesday.
Electing to bat first, Shree Bhagawti HS Pernem managed to put up a decent total of 210 though they were bundled out in the 42nd over.
Shankar Talavnekar (46) and Tejas Parab (41) top scored with the bat with Nikhil Parab (26) and Aman Khan (22) being crucial contributors.
For Kamleshwar HS, Goaurakhnat Redkar impressed with the ball with the figures of 29/3. Ugam Kinlekar also picked three wickets giving away 53 runs.
At the other end, a fine bowling performance from Shree Bhagwati HS saw their opponents collapsing for just 155 runs in 28.3 over.
Pratik Shetye scored a quick-fire half century (53) from just 37 deliveries.
Viraj Kambli also smashed 24 runs in just 12 balls.
For the winners, Rohan Zantye (58/4) and Swayam Singh (64/4) were the pick among the bowlers.
