PANJIM: Sidhivinayak Cricketers, Succour got the better of hosts Manorva SCC by three runs to lift the 11th All-Goa Season Ball T20 Cricket tournament, at Chapora panchayat ground, recently.
Manorva SCC won the toss and elected to field as their rivals posted 154/6 in 20 overs with Chandrakant Ghadi top scoring with 36 runs. He was well supported by Akhil Shetye’s 27 not out and Rajesh Vaigankar, who contributed 22 runs. Guruprasad Aroskar and Mayur Bandodkar scored 18 runs each.
Samir Chodankar and Shailesh Chodankar clinched two wickets each for Manorva SCC.
In reply, the hosts managed only 151 for 6 in the allotted overs as Rohan Bhonlse’s 36 went in vain. Rajesh Vaigankar picked up three wickets while Abhijeet Talekar clinched two wickets.
Sidhivinayak Cricketers were awarded Rs 30,000 and a trophy while Manorva SCC had to be content with Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
The prize distribution was held in the presence of GCA President, Chetan Dessai; GCA Secretary, Vinod Phadke; GCA Vice-President, Venkatesh Prabhu Dessai, Dattaram Phadte, Raju Gaonkar and other dignitaries.
Dattaram Phadte was felicitated for his support and 11 years of service to cricket in Goa.
The individual prizes were awarded to Best batsman of the tournament: Rohan Bhonsle (Manorva SCC) and Best bowler of the tournament: Abhijeet Talekar (Sidhivinayak Cricketers).
The officials for the match were Prashant Gadekar and Santosh Govekar. Shyam Kalangutkar compered while club president Nilesh Chodankar proposed the vote of thanks.
