MAPUSA: Sinquerim Sports Club registered a fluent 3-1 win over Sai Avtar Sports Club, Anjuna, to advance ahead in the Candolim Panchayat Cup, held at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, here, on Wednesday.
In the 10th minute of play, Sai Avtar goalkeeper Soma Korgaonkar affected a smart save from Vinayak Rane’s fierce shot.
After much probing in the 27th minute Sinquerim’s Rajat tapped the ball into the net of a cross from Nakul Gawas, 1-0.
On crossing ends, Sai Avtar’s striker Mohammad Faheez missed an open sitter.
In the 55th minute of play, Vinayak Rane scored by hoodwinking couple of Sai Avtar players to make it, 2-0
Three minutes later Mohammad Faheez power packed shot from just outside the penalty box beat Sinquerim keeper Mahadev Gawade, 2-1.
In the closing stages of the match, Krish Naroji made it 3-1 for Sinquerim colts, of a cross from Saimesh.
Mohammad Faheez of Sai Avtar Anjuna received the man-of-the-match award.
