Swimathon at Bambolim beach
PANJIM: Grand Hyatt Goa will host the swimathon 2013, an open water sea swimming event at Bambolim Beach on March 24 from 8 a.m., to raise funds for ‘Children’s Rights in Goa (CRG)’, an organisation dedicated to the protection of children.
It will have three different events, for swimmers of differing capabilities. In the 2-km full swimathon, swimmers start from the beach, swim out 1km, round a boat, and back to the beach. In the 1km half swimathon, swimmers start from the shore, swim out 500 metres round a buoy and back. In the 250metre long-short-swim, swimmers swim parallel to the shore, within their depth, and can put their feet down midway if they are tired.
The Goa Yachting Association (GYA) will provide rescue boats, ‘Drishti’ will provide trained lifeguards and a jet ski, and the Goa Kayaking Club close cover kayak support. Trained paramedics and doctors will be on stand-by. The event is being organized and managed by NRB Events.

Throwball trials at Valpoi
VALPOI: The selection trials for senior men and women teams for 36th senior national throwball championship to be held in Panipat, Haryana in June will be held on March 17 from 9 a.m. at forest training school ground, Valpoi. The selection trials for senior women for senior national Federation Cup throwball to be held in Mumbai in April will also be conducted at the same venue. Veterans football at Chandor
MARGAO: Sun Moon Stars Club, Chandor, will orgnize their first all-Goa veterans football tournament on March 16 at St Anthony’s ground, Cavorim-Chandor.
Nuvem, Fatorda, Panjim, Candolim, Navelim, Ponda and Chandor Veterans will vie for top honours. Rs 22,022 and Rs 15,015 will be awarded.
Under-arm cricket at Cumbharjua
PANJIM: The 1st all-Goa under-arm floodlit cricket tournament organized by Sparkling Sports Club, Cumbharjua will be held on March 15 and 16 at Cumbharjua ground.

Goa beach run on March 17
MARGAO: The Goa beach run organized by Vasco Sports Club in association with National Organization for Tobacco Eradication and Goa Karnataka Oncologists Association will be held on March 17.
The race will begin at Arossim and proceed to Utorda, Majorda, Betalbatim and Colva. More than 300 participants are expected to participate in the race.
