MARGAO: St Anthony Sports Club drubbed Immaculate Conception Sports Club (ICSC), Paroda 3-0 in Group A Salcete Zone GFA Third Division football league, at Paroda ground, Tuesday. St Anthony led 2-0 at the break.
St Anthony started the game on an attacking fashion and put their opponents into their own half and were at sea. St Anthony’s breakthrough came in the 10th minute when striker Velson Fernandes punted the ball to the corner of the net.
Spurred by the early goal, St Anthony’s raided the rival goal and doubled the lead in the 32nd minute when Terence Vaz inflated the tally with a stiff grounder.
The second half continued in same vein with their forwards swarming all over the rival territory and in the 59th minute Agnas Vaz drove the last nail into rival coffin.
In Group D, at DYSA ground, Curtorim, Sporting Club of Davorlim hammered Macazana Welfare Club 5-1. The high light of the day was a splendid brace by striker Rosefern Miranda.
Sporting Club of Davorlim started the game on a whirlwind fashion and took the lead in the very fourth minute when Lesern put his team in front. Then it was the turn of Rosefern Miranda who bulldozed the rival defence single headedly and doubled the lead in the 14th minute.
The second half did not bring any respite to Macazaan as Sporting Club attacked both the flanks. Neville Almeida reduced the deficit in the 52nd minute unfazed, Sporting Club of Davorlim did not wait for long to increase their tally Rosefern Miranda scored second time to register his brace in the 71st minute and 12 minute later, Rosfern Miranda completed his hat-trick. Rex Miranda completed the rout in the 83rd minute.
