BENAULIM: St Anthony SC, Assolda edged past Margao SC 2-1 to lift the 22nd Dando Boys Cup in the final of the 22nd Dando Boys Cup football tournament organised by Dando Boys Club, Benaulim, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Sunday.
Both teams started the match on the forefront as Joel Colaco took control of the ball from Cliff Barreto and shot to net the first goal for Margao with a placement shot in the 5th minute.
At the other end, Cruz Gomes equalised for Assolda with a glancing header in the 49th minute. With just six minutes left for the final whistle, Assolda netted the match winner through Moses D’Sa’s downward header.
The winners were awarded Rs. 40,000 while the runners up received Rs.30,000 plus trophies.
Churchill Alemao, MLA of Benaulim constituency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Luis Pinto, Anthony Leo Fernandes, Sarpanch of VP Colva, Menino De Bandar, Dy.Sarpanch Benaulim, Anthony Pango GFA Executive member other dignitaries and club officials.
