MAPUSA: St Anthony Sports Club, Marna registered a thumping 4-1 win over Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club in the sixth-round match of the GFA’s 2nd Division league, at Duler Stadium, here on Thursday.
With Thursday`s win, St Anthony SC Marna occupied the top spot in the league table with 15 points while Vagator Parish Youth SC remain on 10 points.

St Anthony SC Marna scored two goals in each half through Mayuresh Naik, Claudio Rodrigues and skipper Vidhesh Sawant, while Sameer Shaikh pulled one goal back for Vagator in the second half.
Vagator started the match earnestly and had Pratik Dhargalkar shown more composure in front of the goal they would have been leading by atleast two goals in the early stages of the match.
At the other end Maran too were let down by their strikers. First Anslem D`Souza could not direct his header into the net from close range and then an in swinging cross at the goal by skipper Videsh Sawant was brilliantly kept out for a corner by keeper Sanket Gaonkar.
In the 22nd minute a well measured cross delivered into the box by Vagator`s Pratik found Bhavesh Shirvoikar whose first-time volley was stylishly collected by the diving keeper Vinit.
Marna finally broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when Claudio Rodrigues cross was haphazardly cleared by defender Stephen Martin and the ball rolled to Mayuresh Naik who without wasting any time let a rasping shot which kissed the gloves of Vagator keeper Sanket and entered the net, 1-0.
Claudio Rodrigues then made it 2-0 in the added time for Marna with a firm header from a cross whipped into the box by Mayuresh Naik, 2-0
It became even more difficult for Vagator to get back into the match when Marna got their third goal in the second half from an unlikely source when Claudio Rodrigues cross saw keeper Sanket make a mess of it and the ball struck defender Stephen`s leg and entered the goal, 3-0.
Vagator showed great energy and kept probing their opponent’s goal and were rewarded when Sameer Shaikh gave finishing touches to a well measured cross delivered by Pratik, 1-3.
Marna scored their fourth goal through Videsh Sawant which had class written all over it, 4-1.
