MAPUSA: St Anthony’s Sports Club Marna scored a huge 6-0 win over Milgares Sports Club Mapusa to advance into the quarter-finals of the Vagator PYSC Soccer, played at Vagator ground, on Monday.
The winners dominated the match and attacked from the word go.
St Anthony’s Marna did not waste much time and surged ahead very early in the match through Sahil Pomburphekar whose shot brushed the post before entering the goal, 1-0.
Couple of minutes later Vidhesh doubled the lead for St Anthony’s Marna as he gave finishing touches to Sherwin Lobo’s pass.
Vidhesh managed to score his brace when he leapt high to nod Vipul Pednekar’s cross.
St Anthony’s ran down the steam of their opponents playing short passes and moving the ball from one end to the other.
Moments before the lemon break Anslem D’Souza made it 4-0 in favour of St Anthony’s Marna, scoring from close range, 4-0. At halftime the winners led 4-0.
Changing ends the winners continued from where they had left from and Sherwin Lobo scored a brace to round off the score tally to 6-0.
Milagres SC were totally outplayed in the one sided game.
