MAPUSA: St. Anthony’s SC, Marna-Siolim, defeated Dunes SC 5-3 via the tie-breaker to emerge champions in Candolim Panchayat Cup football tournament organized by Candolim SC at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro ground.], Candolim, on Sunday.

Siolim took the lead in the18th minute as Sangam Pednekar connected a cross from Saideep Pednekar and beat the helpless looking Dunes goalkeeper.
It was in the closing minutes that Dunes levelled terms with Amit Rane drilling a power-packed strike giving no chance to Siolim’s custodian.
The result had to be decided via the tie-breaker, where Sahil Pompuphekar, Vianesh Sawant, Pushparaj Mandrekar and Lavnay Shirodkar were on target for St Anthony. Only Jodan Fernandes and Sanke Gawde scored for Dunes.
Chief guest Princeton Rebello, ISL Odisha’s player, was the chief guest who alongwith Candolim Sarpanch Blaize Fernandes, Deputy Sarpanch Amaline Dias were introduced to the players and other officials.
St. Anthony’s Marna won Rs. 60,000 while Dunes had to be content with Rs. 40,000 plus trophies.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Best defender Lavnay Shirodkar, Siolim. Best midfielder Shashank Ashwekar, Dunes. Best goalkeeper Jordan Fernandes, Dunes. Best striker Sangam PedneKar, Siolim. Player of final Amit Rane, Dunes. Best discipline team: St Anthony’s Marna-Siolim.
