PANJIM: Dempo Sports Club conducted first grassroots festival for students of St. Britto High School, Mapusa, at St. Britto High School ground, on Monday morning.
Ninety six participated. The primary focus of the festival was to introduce small children to the game of football.
Students aged between 6 and 10 years were divided into five groups and guided through a series of six activity stations. Each station had a coach and the activities ranged from juggling, ball control to 2×2 sided games.
This initiative was a part of the memorandum signed between the club and St. Britto. The club will help organize grassroots festivals and football camps for the school children apart from providing equipments to the school teams.
Those present on the occasion were Principal of St Britto Fr. Cedric Fernandes, General Secretary Wilfred D’Souza, Dempo Juniors coach Marcelino Pereira, Dempo under-19 coach Kanan Priolkar and members of teaching staff Joel, Firoz and Pawan.
