FATORDA: St Joseph Convent HS, Aquem edged past Saviour of the World HS, Loutolim 2-1 to move into the next round of the U-14 Subroto Mukherjee Salcete Taluka football tournament organised by DSYA, at PJN Stadium, on Wednesday.
At the other end, St Joseph through Maven Gomes should have netted in the 12th minute but Saviour’s keeper Anniston D’Silva saved the latter’s shot brilliantly. It was Wedly Barreto who netted two quick goals for St Joseph in the 3rd and 16th minute while Sadamshiv Gavadikar pulled a goal back for Saviours in the 20th minute.
In the other matches of the day, Perpetual Succour Convent HS Navelim got the better of Fr Agnel Multipurpose HS, Verna 4-1. Delmon Rebello, Isain Noronha, Naythan Coutinho and Presley Gomes netted for the winners while only Alee Gracias scored for the Verna side.
In another match, Our Lady of Snows HS, Raia beat Rosary HS, Navelim 3-1.Naveen Gautami netted a brace while Aliston Cardozo netted a goal for the winners while only Ameen Attair scored for the Navelim side.
In another match, Bethany Convent HS, Sao Jose de Areal shot-out Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna 4-3 via the tie-breaker.
