PANJIM: St Rita, Maina, Curtorim defeated Mapusa FC in the tie-breaker to emerge champions of October Fest 7-a-side football tournament organized by Future Star Sports LLC, at Emirates English Speaking School ground, Jumeirah, Dubai, recently.
The teams were tied goalless at full time. The highlight of the day was excellent goalkeeping by Peter Fernandes and rock defense by ex-International Franky Barreto and Jerry Travaso, the midfield was as usual with playmaker Russell Rodrigues, Myron Pereira and John D’Costa with the support of star Roy Dias and Johnny Fernandes scoring the goals in preliminary round for St Rita.
