St Sebastian UC win

Garry, Chunky and Cannut score for the winners

NAVELIM: St. Sebastian Union Club defeated Dicarpale Sports Club 3-1 in the Goa Football Association’s Second Division League match played at Navelim ground, on Saturday.
St Sebastian UC led by Regy Rodrigues started the match on an attacking note and tried to shoot into the lead from the word go.
Mildred Rebello and Caven Ratos guarded the defence lines well while Chunky Kalekar, Cannut Fernandes and Joel Fernandes constantly troubled the rival defence with their raids on the Dicarpale defence.
It didn’t take long for St Sebastian Union to score the opener as Garry Fernandes netted past the rival keeper making it 1-0.
It wasn’t over yet as Chunky Kalekar danced his way past the rival defence before he slotted the second for his side.
Cannut Fernandes drove the final nail into the coffin as he scored a long ranger giving his side a 3-goal advantage.
At the other end Dicarpale SC marshalled by Rayan Furtado managed to score a consolation goal through Valmiki.
Meanwhile, in the Third Division League (Ilhas Zone) match between Aivao Sports Club and Ronit Sports Club ended in a goalless stalemate.
Either of the teams mostly restricted to midfield play throughout the match as the defence lines of both the teams were stubborn not to let any striker pass through.
Aivao YC’s Damodar Naik picked a yellow card in the 54th minute for reckless tackle before Kuskant Gauns was cautioned in the 80th minute for handling the ball.
