PANJIM: Young Stars of Maula defeated Mashem Cricket Club by 89 runs in the 44th Nanda Lolayekar Trophy organised by Mashem Cricket Club at Nirakar Maidan Dapot, Canacona, recently.
Young Stars of Maula won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 273/10 in 34.2 overs. Atharva Kumar 58 (44), Suraj Gond 46 (26) and Yash Gadekar 46 (43) were the top scorers. Aman Komarpant 4/50, Ravish Satarkar 3/29, Kaushal Dessai 1/38, Ajinkya Dessai 1/53. In reply, Mashem Cricket Club managed to score 184/10 in 33.4 overs. Jugal Naik Gaonkar 42 (48), Aman Komarpant 41(36), Vishal Naik 24 (28) and Nehal Chari 22 (32) performed well in batting.
Ataharva Kumar 4/17, Suraj Gond 2/11 and Yogesh Naik 2/38 demolished the rival batting line-up. Man-of-the-match was awarded to Atharva Kumar.
Earlier, Polem Cricket Club won by seven wickets against Al Fatah Vasco.
After winning the toss, Al Fatah opted to bat first scoring 74/10 in 19.4 overs. Pranam Dessai 13 (21), Vishal Pingle 11 (19) and Somay Naik 11 (33) top-scored. Deepak Vaingankar 5/13, Nihal Surlakar 3/24 and Udit Yadav 1/5 were the wrecker-in-chief.
In reply, Polem Cricket Club managed to get the required 75 runs losing three wickets in 10.1 overs. Rajat Pagi 33 (18) and Piyush Yadav 25 (26) performed well. Satendra Shelke 3/19 was at his best form. The man-of-the-match award was awarded to Deepak Vaingankar.
