PANJIM: Tejan Fallary got the better of Varad Karekar 21-15, 21-19 to emerge champions of under-17 boys singles category of Manohar Dhond memorial all-Goa major ranking badminton tournament at Indoor Stadium, Campal, here. 

Meanwhile in the under-13 boys singles finals, Mehul Jirage thrashed Sushil Nayak 21-8, 21-8 to clinch the top spot. Manjushri Raut crushed Yasmeen Sayed 21-6, 21-2 to claim the under-13 girls singles title. 

In the under-15 boys singles section, Kartik Karekar drubbed Mehul Jirage 21-8, 21-10 to emerge champion while Anar Singbal overcame Manjushri Raut 15-21, 21-11, 21-18 to clinch the under-15 girls singles crown. Anura Prabhudesai beat Pranjal Chimulkar 21-16, 21-8 to emerge champion of under-17 girls singles category. 

The tournament was officiated by Roy Athaide and Vinayak Kamat.

Richard D’Souza, principal conservator of forests and president of Goa Badminton Association was the chief guest and distributed the prizes alongwith guest of honour Gaurish Dhond, GBA executive committee members Luciano Soares and Santosh Prabhudesai. Narahar Thakur, GBA secretary, presided over the function. 

Pradosh Silimkhan proposed the vote of thanks. In all, 150 participants took part.
