Toss Controversy Mars India vs Pakistan Clash in Women’s World Cup 2025

The Women's World Cup 2025 match between India and Pakistan saw controversy during the toss as Match Referee misheard Pakistan captain Fatima Sana's call.

Match 6 of the Women’s World Cup 2025 between India and Pakistan on October 5 was overshadowed by controversy during the toss. As captains Harmanpreet Kaur and Fatima Sana walked out, the coin toss went awry. Despite Fatima choosing ‘tails,’ the Match Referee, Shandre Fritz, misheard her call and declared her the toss winner, allowing her to choose whether to bat or bowl.

The toss clip quickly went viral on social media, showing the apparent miscommunication. Meanwhile, Harmanpreet continued India’s no-handshake policy against Pakistan, walking out separately and avoiding any interaction with her counterpart, similar to the approach seen in the men’s Asia Cup earlier this year.
