CURTORIM: Uguem Rising Club Sanguem scored a narrow 1-0 win Carmona SC to move into the semi-final of the Curtorim Panchayat Cup organised by Maina Sports Club, at Curtorim ground, on Wednesday.
Uguem Rising Club striker Etalio Gomes should have netted in the second minute itself but his left footed shot was timely saved by the Carmona keeper Stanford Fernandes.
Three minutes later, Carmona defender Yuri Ferrao sent in a long ball to midfielder Alex Rodrigues whose shot was easily saved by Ugem keeper Jerico D’Costa.
Minutes later, Uguem’s Ashley D’Costa’s right footer was blocked by Carmona’s Yuri.
Later in the 23rd minute, Carmona’s Anthony Braganza shot over the Uguem cross bar.
It was Pleto Fernandes who netted the match-winner with a placement shot off Shailesh Velip’s connect in the 40th minute.
Uguem Rising club will now meet Rossman Cruz Nagoa-Verna in the semi-finals on March 1.
