RAIA: United Club Unjirim edged past Bandol Sports Club, 4-2, in a penalty shootout to secure their place in the semi-finals of the 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Agxem Sports Club and played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday.
Both teams played attacking football, utilizing short passes and long-range shots due to the rainy conditions. Bandol Sports Club struck first with Maldino Rodrigues scoring from inside the box in the 15th minute. Clifton of Unjirim had a chance to equalise before halftime but missed the target.
In the second half, both teams had opportunities to score. Unjirim persisted in their search for an equaliser and found it in the 50th minute with a well-placed shot by Floyd Antao, leading to a penalty shootout to decide the winner.
United Club Unjirim demonstrated superior accuracy in the tie-breaker.
Floyd Antao of Unjirim was named man-of-the-match, with the award presented by Pedro Antonio Martin.
