NAGOA: Varca Sports Club defeated Rossman Cruz SC Nagoa 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the Nagoa Village Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by Rossman Cruz Sports Club, Nagoa, played at Nagoa panchayat ground, at Verna, on Wednesday.
Jhonus D’Costa opened the scoring for Varca with a snap shot in the 4th minute.
In the 8th minute, Jhonus took control of the ball from Joylon Cardozo but his low powered shot was easily saved by Aston Braganza keeper of Rossman.
Minutes later, Josly Moniz netted the equaliser for Rossman. Rossman striker Savio Fernandes shot from close range but Varca keeper Muhammed Shaikh saved the latter’s shot brilliantly in the 25th minute.
As the match progressed, Swington Rebello scored the match winner for Varca in the 58th minute.
