Vasudev Sports Club, Bicholim defeated Khetoba Sports Club, Mayem 2-1 via the tie-breaker in the Bhanudas Prabhudessai memorial soccer tournament, organised jointly by Bicholim Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav committee and Vignesh Sports Club, at Shivaji Maharaj ground, Bicholim on Monday. At the end of regulation time the teams were goalless.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Asik and Atish were on target for Bicholim, while Dayanand reduced the margin for Mayem.
Earlier, in the inaugural match on Sunday, Sankleshwar Sports Club trounced Bicholim Boys 3-0.
The winners will receive Rs 5,555 plus trophy while the runners-up will walk away with Rs 3,333. The loosing semi-finalist will receive Rs 1,111.
The tournament was inaugurated by Rajesh Patnekar, MLA of Bicholim, in the presence of former Bicholim Mayor Rajnikant Lawanis, Vismay Prabhudessai, Shivram Falari, Naresh Kadkade, Govind Parwar and other dignitaries of Ganeshotsav committee.
The finals will be played on August 30.
