PANJIM: Verna Sports Club registered a solitary gold win over Don Bosco Oratary Fatorda in the GFA U-16 League match played at Don Bosco ground, Fatorda on Monday.
Both the teams started the math on an attacking note but their strikers failed to make the best use of the chances that came their way. The teams were locked 0-0 at the break. Crossing over there was no much difference as both the teams struggled to find the match winner. Ultimately it was Nash Rebello who came to his teams rescue with an 80+3 minutes match winner to give Verna FC a much needed win.
Meanwhile at artificial turf ground, Salgaocar FC beat Salcete FC 3-2. Shennoy Andrade opened the scoring for Salcete FC in the 8th minute and Sherwin Vaz double the account in the 18th minute. Salgaocar FC, finding themselves two goals down, attacked in numbers and successfully draw level in the first half scoring through A Shaikh and Joswel Cardozo.
Post resumption, Salgaocar FC netted the match winner in the 58th minute through Beckham Dais.
