MARGAO: Wilred Leisure Sports Club blanked Dicarpale Sports Club 2-0 to storm into the finals of all-Goa St Anthony’s UK Super Soccer tournament organized by St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva, at DYSA ground, Colva on Wednesday.
Wilred Leisure Sports Club led 1-0 at half time.
Wilred Leisure dominated the game and pushed their opponents on the back foot for major part of the game. Wilred Leisure broke the deadlock in the very 3rd minute when striker Vicky Cardozo beat his markers and bulge the net off well measured cross from Sertorio Monteiro.
Spurred by the early success, Wilred Leisure intensified their attacks and fired couple of well sorties against the rival citadel.
At the other hand, Dicarpale were subdued lot and failed to function as a cohesive unit as they hardly tested the rival goalkeeper.
Crossing over, Wilred Leisure continued to dictate terms and enjoyed the lion’s share of exchanges and fired couple of pot shots.
After brief lull, Wilred Leisure got their scoring act together and doubled the lead when striker Sertorio Monteiro punished the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Dicarpale frustration continued as referee booked five players for unsporting behaviour. Wilred Leisure will now meet Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club, Paroda in the finals on May 17.
