A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his one-year-old son to death while in an inebriated state, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday night in Suremanpur village, Bairia, when Rupesh Tiwari allegedly attacked his son Kinu with a sharp-edged weapon, a police officer reported. Kinu succumbed to his injuries while being taken for treatment. Police reached the scene after receiving information and sent the body for postmortem, said Circle Officer (CO) Bairia, Mohammad Fahim Qureshi.
The officer added that Rupesh, an alcoholic, frequently abused his wife, Rina Tiwari. On Saturday evening, after returning home drunk, he assaulted her and also verbally abused his father, Kamlesh Tiwari, threatening to kill him. Fearing for their safety, Rina and her father-in-law left the house, leaving Kinu and their three-year-old daughter Ananya at home.
When they returned the next day, they discovered that Rupesh had stabbed Kinu, inflicting fatal injuries, including a torn jaw, CO Qureshi said. Based on Rina’s complaint, a case has been registered under sections 105, 115(2), 352, and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Rupesh has been arrested.
