Is Goa turning out to be a sanctuary for criminals? With the recent arrest of two Naxal leaders in Mapusa who were in hiding for long here, the BJP has said Goa Police need to be alert in future.
“Police need to be alert and have to do more than what they are doing at present,” said BJP Spokesperson Rajendra Arlekar, indicating that Goa may turn out to be sage hide-out for anti-social elements if policing remains lax.
He was addressing a press conference on Monday here. Sambu Beck, a Naxal leader from Orissa and fellow Naxlite Rajendra Barla were arrested from Mapusa and were taken to Orissa on a transit remand on May 9.
Congratulating Goa Police for tracing Naxal leaders who were in hiding in Mapusa, Arlekar accused the Home Minister Ravi Naik of becoming a “habitual denier” and stated that this is demoralising the Goa Police.
He specifically pointed out how the home minister had denied about drug trade in Goa but subsequent raids by Narcotic Cell and seizure of drugs exposed him.
Protest against misuse of CBI – As part of its nationwide protest against the alleged misuse of CBI by the UPA government during last six years — the State unit of BJP on May 12 has organised protest programme at KTC bus stand in the city.
Arlekar told a press conference here that they would protest at KTC bus stand and distribute pamphlets’ to people about the alleged misuse of CBI by the Congress Party.
They would also hold a protest outside CBI’s office at Bambolim, he added.
