MARGAO: Responding to the villagers’ requests that were made during the Colva gram sabha, Colva Sarpanch Suzie Fernandes, agreed to write letters to the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) and the local MLA urging the resumption of the KTC bus service for the village.
Residents recalled the convenience of a KTC bus in the village, especially for those without personal vehicles.

Previous attempts to revive the KTC service had faced obstacles and were eventually abandoned even though a feasibility test had been conducted and permits were also issued.
Locals in the past who had demanded for such a service added that it is not just them who face difficulty but also the tourists who wish to use public transport in and around Colva.
While speaking to media persons after the meeting, Fernandes confirmed that written representations aligning with the gram sabha demands would be dispatched to the relevant authorities.
The gram sabha members also raised another concern about the presence of unregistered migrants living in the village.
“The gram sabha members emphasized the need to track migrants. Notices were sent to the Church instructing residents to complete verification forms and submit them to the police station. Today, a gram sabha resolution was passed to submit one form to the panchayat for record-keeping and the other to the police station. This ensures a comprehensive record of their residence,” said Fernandes.
Additionally, a proposal was received for establishing a pension fund for panch members, akin to the facility available for MLAs.
