Ravi convenes urgent meet with cops
HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, JAN 10
Home Minister Ravi Naik today convened an urgent meeting with senior Goa Police officials regarding the matter and asked them to expedite proceedings to bring back Atala to Goa.
Emerging out of the meeting chamber at the Secretariat, Naik told reporters that they are in touch with the Delhi CBI of Interpol’s division to expedite the process to get Atala, being a crucial witness in the police-drug mafia nexus expose in 2010.
The meeting also had presence of Director General of Police Bhim Sain Bassi, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav, Crime Branch Deputy Superintendent of Police and other senior officers.
It is ironical that Salgaonkar, against whom there were strong allegations of being hand in gloves with the drug mafia, is still handling the sensational matter.
