Mopa Vimantal Samiti urges govt to fulfil pending demands

PERNEM: Mopa Vimantal Pidit Xetkari Samiti and villagers of Varkhand Kasarwane organised a one-day hunger strike demanding with the government to fulfil their pending demands with regards to International Mopa Airport.

Initially, a delegation headed by Samiti President Subhodh Mahale met Pernem Deputy Collector and submitted a representation consisting of 20 points with their demands and later staged a one-day hunger strike outside the Pernem Administrative building. 

The agitation was also backed by Pernem Citizens Forum, Goa Kul Mundkar Sangharsh Samiti, Shri Bodgeshwar Xetkari Samiti, members of different political parties and like-minded people.

Giving a time limit of 15 days to the government, Samiti President and Panch of Mopa, Uguem and Tamboxem Village Panchayat, Mahale said, “We are giving 15 days time for the government to take cognisance of the letter submitted by the land losers. This is a wakeup call to the government with regards to the promises that the government has failed to fulfil which includes employment, compensation and others.”
