PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday discussed issues such as resumption of electronic-auctioned mines, new e-auctions, resumption andregulation of sand mining and other minor minerals with the officials of the Directorate of Mines and Geology.
Head of Departments from other related departments such as Department of Environment, Water Resources Department (WRD), and the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) also attended the review meeting.
Sawant also discussed grievances and issues faced by the Directorate of Mines and Geology.
Last week, the Supreme Court allowed the Goa government to auctioniron ore, abandoned at different locations in the State and to depositthe proceeds from the e-auctioned iron ore in the State treasury andnot to part with, by the private miners.
The Apex Court had also allowed the Goa government to auction 1.94million tons of iron ores lying at different locations across theState, through e-auction.
Meanwhile, the State government has identified three minerals blocks of iron ore mineral for e-auction and has invited bids for the grantof mining lease. These mineral blocks are Onda mineral block in North Goa and Curpem and Sulcorna and Codli mineral blocks in South Goa district. The last date to submit bids is October 4.
